The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all warehouse operations, including organising freight inwards from suppliers and freight outwards to customers. They will manage the current operations assistant and ensure efficient pick & pack processes. Additionally, the Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for purchasing warehouse supplies, maintaining warehouse occupational health and safety standards, and performing assembly work on kits as required. The role may also involve occasional communication with customers to confirm freight details. The Warehouse Supervisor will play a vital role in maintaining a smooth and efficient warehouse operation.
Key Responsibilities:Organise Freight Inwards:
- Coordinate the receipt of goods from suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
- Collaborate with internal teams and external carriers, such as national carriers (e.g., TNT) or owner-operated providers, to arrange transportation and scheduling
- Oversee the loading and unloading of freight, verifying quantities and inspecting for damages
- Maintain accurate records of incoming shipments and update inventory systems accordingly
- Coordinate the shipment of goods to customers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
- Collaborate with internal teams and external carriers to arrange transportation and scheduling for outbound shipments
- Prepare shipping documentation, including invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations, as required
- Oversee the loading and securing of goods onto delivery vehicles to prevent damage during transit and compliance with Chain of Responsibility requirements
- Provide leadership and guidance to the operations assistant responsible for pick & pack processes
- Ensure the assistant stays updated with both sale and purchase orders to effectively organise freight operations
- Assist with pick & pack duties as needed, especially during peak periods or when additional support is required
- Monitor the assistant's performance, provide feedback, and support their professional development
- Identify and source warehouse supplies, such as packaging materials, safety equipment, and other operational necessities
- Collaborate with vendors to negotiate favorable pricing and maintain adequate inventory levels
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, receipts, and invoices
- Monitor supply usage and recommend improvements to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct regular inspections of the warehouse to identify and address potential hazards or safety concerns
- Implement safety training programs for warehouse staff and promote a culture of safety awareness
- Investigate and report any workplace accidents or incidents, taking corrective actions as necessary
- Perform assembly work on kits or products as required, ensuring accuracy and quality standards are met
- Follow assembly instructions, diagrams, or specifications to complete tasks efficiently
- Inspect finished products for defects or damages and address any issues promptly
- Occasionally communicate with customers to confirm freight details, resolve delivery-related inquiries, or provide updates
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing any concerns promptly and professionally
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, preferably in a supervisory or lead role
- Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory and documentation
- Knowledge of freight forwarding processes and familiarity with different carriers and transportation modes
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems or inventory management software
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate a team
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy objects, as required
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and practices
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members, suppliers, and customers
- On-time Delivery: Measure the percentage of shipments that are delivered to customers within the agreed-upon timeframe
- Freight Accuracy: Track the accuracy of freight inwards and outwards, ensuring that the right products are received from suppliers and delivered to customers without errors or discrepancies
- Inventory Accuracy: Monitor the accuracy of inventory records and conduct regular stock counts to minimise discrepancies between physical stock and system inventory
- Pick & Pack Efficiency: Assess the efficiency of the pick & pack process by measuring the number of orders picked and packed per hour or per shift
- Cost of Freight: Monitor and manage the cost of freight operations, including transportation, packaging, and handling, to optimise cost-effectiveness
- Supplier Performance: Evaluate the performance of suppliers based on factors such as on-time delivery, product quality, and communication
- Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations by tracking the number of safety incidents, near-misses, and accidents within the warehouse
- Team Productivity: Measure the productivity of the operations assistant and the overall warehouse team by tracking key metrics such as order fulfillment rates, throughput, and labor efficiency
- Customer Satisfaction: Collect feedback from customers regarding their satisfaction with the delivery process, communication, and overall experience
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline warehouse operations
- Salary package of: AUD $90,000-$100,000 + Super
