The News Writer - Las Vegas will play a key role on the Casinos.com news team, producing original, high-quality content focused on casino events, gaming, and entertainment in and around Las Vegas.

This is a remote position based in Las Vegas, with regular engagement across the city’s vibrant casino and entertainment scene. The successful candidate will be a motivated storyteller who can deliver engaging, accurate, and SEO-optimized news content.

While the primary focus will be Las Vegas-based coverage, the role may also include broader assignments covering significant casino, gaming, and entertainment stories outside of Nevada as needed.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated storyteller with experience covering the gaming industry or Las Vegas nightlife, and skills delivering content across multiple media platforms. Journalistic curiosity and working knowledge of SEO, UX and AP Style will be key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and publish original news stories, including enterprise reporting, personal interviews and assigned features related to casinos, gaming, and entertainment.
• Cover major events and developments across the Las Vegas casino industry, including openings, expansions, tournaments, and local entertainment news.
• Upload and optimize content using the company’s CMS, following publishing, SEO, and internal linking best practices.
• Produce multimedia content (photography, short-form video, or audio) to enhance storytelling and audience engagement.
• Stay informed on trends in casinos, gaming, and tourism both locally and, when required, nationally.
• Assist with PR and promotional projects, including campaign coordination, content creation, and social media engagement.
• Support editing and publishing of content from freelancers and other contributors to ensure quality, tone, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with colleagues across teams (PR, SEO, and marketing) to align coverage with broader business goals and brand standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (preferred).
• 2–4 years experience as a professional writer or editor in digital media, ideally with experience covering casinos, entertainment, or tourism.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging, and accurate copy under deadline constraints.
• Prior experience covering casinos, gambling, or Las Vegas entertainment preferred.
• Knowledge of SEO best practices and familiarity with analytics tools such as GA4, Ahrefs, or similar.
• Experience with CMS publishing and content management workflows.
• Multimedia skills (photography, video, or audio) are a plus.
• PR or brand communications experience (press releases, partner coordination, media alignment) is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of AP Style and attention to journalistic ethics and accuracy.
