Risk Team Manager

The Risk team plays a vital role in helping GoHenry to play its part in fighting financial crime in the UK and the US by reducing the risk of the business being misused for criminal purposes, such as money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions avoidance, and fraud.

Reporting to the Financial Crime Intelligence Manager, the Risk Team’s Manager’s priority will be ensuring that the Risk team operates effectively and its team members are provided with support and guidance.

We are looking for an experienced and self-driven Risk Team Manager as the primary focus of this role is effective team leadership and management, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment, and ensuring the successful execution of GoHenry’s risk management strategies. The ideal candidate will need to be adept at leading people, be able to keep the team engaged through change as well as spot emerging problems and deal with them swiftly. They like to take on responsibility, be comfortable making decisions, and know when to escalate matters quickly.

This role is based in our Farnborough office and requires a minimum of 3 days a week working in the office.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 to 17:30 with the flexibility to work different hours and weekends as and when needed as our Risk team operates 7 days a week.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of risk analysts, assistants, and specialists.
  • Set clear performance expectations, objectives, and goals for team members.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback to the team.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, encouraging professional and personal development and growth.

Risk Operations Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the risk team, including workload distribution, task prioritisation, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and initiatives.
  • Identify emerging risks and propose proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Ensure alignment of team objectives with overall company goals and risk management priorities.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of risk management efforts.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within the risk management function and drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with our other Operations teams to deliver great customer outcomes.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in risk management.

Reporting:

  • Produce regular reports summarising Team performance and our financial crime risks e.g. levels of chargebacks, eKYC performance, work backlogs, SARs, MID performance, PEPs.
  • Ensure that we meet the requirements of our issuing bank and other partners in respect of managing financial crime risks, producing monthly/quarterly/annual returns, and handling general queries.
  • Attend the weekly Ops Management Meeting ready with any relevant reporting & trend knowledge to share with the wider Ops Teams/Managers.
