Havenly is searching for an U.S.‑based Furniture Sourcing Manager based in New York or Denver, to lead the strategic procurement and sourcing of upholstered furniture—sofas, sectionals, chairs and other soft seating—across our portfolio of brands. Reporting to the Senior Director of Supply Chain, this role will own the sourcing strategy for upholstered furniture, evaluate and onboard manufacturers, develop requests for proposals (RFPs) and negotiate contracts to secure the right quality at the best price. The manager will work closely with our design and product teams to ensure that finished goods meet aesthetic, functional and sustainability goals while optimizing cost of goods sold through raw material and packaging efficiency.
What you’ll do
- Own the sourcing strategy & vendor relationships: Establish category‑wide sourcing strategies for upholstered furniture and manage long‑term relationships with domestic and international vendors. This includes identifying and onboarding new factories and component suppliers, coordinating business reviews and ensuring suppliers meet quality and service standards.
- Negotiate pricing & lead RFPs: Lead RFPs for new product launches and negotiate pricing, payment terms and capacity commitments for furniture frames, foam, fabrics and packaging. Use market data to benchmark costs and secure competitive contracts.
- Strategic sourcing & raw‑material planning: Develop sourcing strategies that align with brand positioning and quality goals. Forecast material demand, analyze raw‑material prices and identify savings opportunities. Maintain visibility into the bill of materials (BOM)—the comprehensive list of materials, components and subassemblies required to build each product and their associated costs.
- Packaging & logistics optimization: Work with suppliers and our operations team to ensure packaging protects product integrity while minimizing cost and waste. Lead packaging procurement and supplier selection, understanding that the right packaging enhances the customer experience and is part of the total cost of ownership.
- Supplier discovery & AI: Leverage AI‑powered supplier discovery tools and market intelligence to find and evaluate potential partners. Use these tools and your network to expand our vendor base and mitigate supply‑chain risk. Set the criteria for what makes a strong strategic vendor for the company.
- Cross‑functional collaboration: Collaborate with design, product development, merchandising, operations and finance teams to align sourcing decisions with design specifications, cost targets and timelines. Provide regular updates on project status, costs and risks.
- Quality & sustainability: Ensure that sourced furniture meets performance and durability standards and is produced in ethical and environmentally responsible factories. Develop supplier scorecards and drive continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply‑Chain Management, Industrial Design, Business or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in furniture sourcing or manufacturing procurement, ideally focused on upholstered products or seating.
- Deep knowledge of upholstered furniture construction—including wood frames, foam densities, fabric cutting and sewing—and an ability to evaluate how raw materials, finishes, labor and packaging impact finished‑goods pricing.
- Expertise in reading and managing BOMs to understand how components, routings and labor contribute to cost and production planning.
- Strong negotiation skills, experience running RFPs and proven success securing favorable terms and value from suppliers.
- Familiarity with packaging procurement and the ability to source cost‑effective, sustainable packaging solutions.
- AI proficiency or openness: Experience using AI‑based tools (e.g., generative AI platforms, supplier search engines) to identify new suppliers and analyze market data or a demonstrated willingness to learn and adopt AI technologies to enhance sourcing efficiency.
- Advanced analytical skills; comfortable with Excel, ERP/MRP systems and cost‑modeling tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead cross‑functional teams and build partnerships across cultures.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to visit factories and attend trade shows in Asia, Europe and the United States.
About you
- You take ownership of the sourcing pipeline and have the resilience to navigate supply‑chain challenges.
- You are a strategic thinker who proactively identifies and solves problems.
- You thrive in a fast‑paced environment, balancing multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
