Position Description
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the planning and purchase of materials supporting the Macrofab’s operation in Mexico and the US. The Buyer/Planner will analyze the supply and demand for materials based on customer’s Orders Request, Forecast and building schedule with our partner factories, managing inventory levels and projections. The Buyer/Planner will also support on the coordination of the inbound of international shipments and virtual transfers (IMMEX program) of local suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Confers with vendors to negotiate prices, availability and Lead Times for materials.
  • Examine bids from vendors.
  • Planning of Material Purchases.
  • Determinates Procurement Method (Manufacturers, Distributors, Brokers, Customer consignment) according to Materials Requirement Planning.
  • Makes tactical buying decisions.
  • Follow up on purchasing reports.
  • Develops material planning and optimal inventory levels.
  • Ensures continuity of raw material supply to support production schedules.
  • Expedite orders to meet procurement and supplier management objectives.
  • Notifies Program Management of material situation that may affect the attainment of production plan.
  • Provides status for shortages.
  • Meetings with partner factories monitoring inventory levels.
  • Monitors and reports Key Performance Indicators and other materials metrics.
  • Review and execution of RMA transactions.
  • Follow up with Accounts Payable Team for invoice payment of vendors.
  • Coordinate with the logistics team the international and national shipments from all locations (Macrofab USA, Macrofab México, Customers, Suppliers, CMs).
  • Track shipment details, locations and Estimated Time of Arrivals.
  • Track inventory of raw material for conciliation of Virtual Transfers (IMMEX program).

  • Problem solving and decision making: able to identify and solve problems, showing good judgement.
  • Supply Chain Fundamentals: understand the supply chain and logistics system of organizations.

Education and experience
  • BA or BS.
  • Fluent English oral and written.
  • Experience as buyer in Manufacturing Industry.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Negotiation Skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge in BOM revision, Material Requirement Planning, Inventory Management, Excess and Obsoletes, Purchasing, INCOTERMS, Customs and Foreign Trade.
