Job Summary:
The AOI Operator is responsible for operating Automated Optical Inspection equipment to inspect printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) for defects, ensuring that all products meet company quality standards and customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, understanding of electronic components, and adherence to established inspection procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate AOI machines to inspect PCB assemblies for soldering, placement, polarity, and other quality issues.
- Create, modify, and optimize AOI inspection programs according to product requirements and engineering guidelines.
- Load and unload boards from the AOI system according to established work instructions.
- Interpret AOI results, review images of suspected defects, and verify findings using magnification tools or microscopes.
- Accurately identify and classify defects in compliance with IPC-A-610 standards.
- Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation.
- Communicate any identified issues to supervisors, engineers, or rework teams for corrective action.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained, clean, and in good working conditions.
- Always Follow ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) handling procedures and safety protocols.
- Support continuous improvement activities by providing feedback on recurring defects or process issues.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in electronics preferred.
- Minimum 1 years of hands-on experience in AOI programming and troubleshooting in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with PCB assembly processes and IPC standards.
- Strong visual acuity and ability to distinguish small defects and color variations.
- Basic computer skills and ability to navigate inspection software.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and teamwork mindset.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing production needs.
