The Role
We're looking for a Marketing Design Lead — a hybrid design and technical role for someone who can take a website from concept to live production. You'll own the visual design and user experience of our web presence while also understanding the technical infrastructure needed to build, deploy, and maintain it.
This isn't a purely design role or a purely engineering role — it's for someone comfortable operating at the intersection of both. You'll design pages, write the front-end code, handle deployments, troubleshoot hosting issues, and keep the site performing — all without needing to hand anything off to an engineer.
Beyond the website, you'll also own brand and creative design across the full marketing program — including trade show materials, guides and ebooks, demand gen content, and brand identity — ensuring a consistent visual identity everywhere Mappedin shows up.
Mappedin's marketing team has built real momentum. This role ensures the website keeps pace — well-designed, technically sound, and moving as fast as the team needs it to.
Responsibilities
Design & User Experience
Design website layouts, user interfaces, and user experiences from wireframe through final visual design
Create visual assets — graphics, illustrations, icons, and layouts — for web pages, landing pages, and campaign pages
Maintain visual consistency across all web properties and marketing touchpoints
Stay current on design trends and web technologies, recommending improvements where relevant
Brand & Creative (Beyond the Website)
Design creative across the full marketing program — trade show materials, guides and ebooks, demand gen content, and brand identity — and maintain consistent application of the brand everywhere Mappedin shows up
Technical Infrastructure & Deployment
Handle website deployment, including hosting setup, DNS configuration, and basic server/environment management
Understand and troubleshoot technical concepts like SSL certificates, CDNs, caching, and performance optimization
Monitor site performance, uptime, and basic security practices
Manage integrations between the website and marketing tools — forms, analytics, chat, tracking pixels
Own the technical health of the website — page speed, mobile responsiveness, cross-browser compatibility
Collaboration
Collaborate with developers, marketers, and stakeholders to translate business goals into functional, well-designed web pages
Partner with Demand Gen on conversion-focused landing pages, A/B testing, and optimization
Work with Product Marketing on web content for product launches and feature releases
Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions
What you bring
5+ years in web design / front-end development, with a portfolio of both visual design and shipped websites
Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar) and strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills
Experience deploying and maintaining websites (Netlify, Vercel, AWS, or similar), including Git, DNS, SSL, CDNs, caching, and performance
Experience owning a CMS (HubSpot CMS, WordPress, Webflow, or similar) and managing marketing tool integrations (forms, analytics, tracking)
Strong grasp of responsive design, web performance, accessibility, and brand/print creative (trade shows, guides, collateral)
Clear communicator who can translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders, and work self-directed
Behind the scenes
We move fast and pivot as needed. We operate with experimental mindsets and are constantly pushing the boundaries of our industry. Because of this, we can’t guarantee exactly what you’ll be working on three months from now but we can guarantee that you will be working on high value projects that will foster your growth along with Mappedin’s. One of our core values is playing for the team. This means that we’re constantly balancing our own goals with the needs of the organization and jump in to help others whenever needed.
At Mappedin, we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to how we work. While we have colleagues around the globe, some roles are best suited for full-time, in-person work at our home office in Waterloo. We are committed to getting things done and holding each other accountable.
We stay curious, embrace risks, and learn from our mistakes. We’re competitive and enjoy winning together as a team.
We believe in being transparent about how we hire. We use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help record interviews and create notes for us to review later. Every application and interview is still reviewed by our People Operations team, and all hiring decisions are made by people - not AI.
We welcome applications from people with disabilities. We provide reasonable accommodations for candidates upon request through the recruitment process. For additional information, please email us at accessibility@mappedin.com or call us at (519) 594-0102 and ask to speak to a member of the Human Resources team.
