The team you’ll be working with develops one of the leading macOS security solutions powering our Gen brands Avast, AVG, Avira, and Norton, protecting millions of users from viruses, scams, and other online threats.
Beyond core security, we also build macOS client software for:
VPN
Tune-up and performance utilities
Privacy solutions
In addition, we are developing an antivirus solution for Linux that extends our protection to new platforms and use cases.
Internship overview
As a macOS Software Development Intern, you will join the team responsible for delivering our macOS user experience. You’ll see the full lifecycle of features – from initial concept and design, through implementation and testing, all the way to shipping to our customers.
You will:
Participate in regular team meetings and ceremonies
Learn the frameworks and tools we use for macOS development
Contribute to the design and implementation of real product features under the guidance of senior engineers
Implement and refine features in Swift for our macOS products
Support integration, debugging, and testing activities
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to break down requirements into actionable tasks
Follow our development processes and best practices to deliver high-quality, maintainable code
You must be able to communicate fluently in English (spoken and written) and feel comfortable working in an international team and collaborating across functions.
What you’ll need to succeed
Basic knowledge of Swift
Willingness to learn Swift, macOS development, and our internal tooling
Genuine interest in security, privacy, and utility products and the value they bring to users
Curiosity, proactivity, and openness to feedback and mentoring
Nice to have
Experience with AppKit (macOS) or UIKit (iOS/iPadOS)
Familiarity with Xcode
Basic understanding of operating systems concepts
Scripting experience in Bash or Python
