Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data warehouse data engineers and analysts while fostering a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous quality improvement. Conduct performance reviews and support career development for members of the team.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the processes for ingesting data from a wide variety of external sources. Ensure with the vendors that the data meets expectations and work with the team to ensure it is aggregated, cleaned, and loaded efficiently and reliably.
- Establish and enforce best practices for data quality, integrity, and governance.
- Ensure the team implements monitoring tools and processes to proactively identify and resolve data or processing issues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand use cases, client data needs to deliver solutions that meet the business needs.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and platforms to improve data warehousing capabilities or efficiencies.
- Define and implement Key Performance Indicators that will ensure that stakeholders can assess any risks with the data received from each source.
- Develop and maintain documentation including data dictionaries, transformations, and data flow diagrams and other requirements for consumers of the data.
- Stay up to date on the latest data technologies and trends and evaluate potential technologies, tools and frameworks as needed.
- Represent the company with external vendors, clients, industry events and conferences.
- Work on projects as required from senior leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs and company objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or 10 years of related healthcare data experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 5+ years of experience in data warehousing, with a minimum of 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Extensive experience with modern data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Google BigQuery).
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with a scripting language (e.g., Python).
- Proven experience with ETL/ELT tools and data pipeline orchestration (e.g., Airflow).
- Extensive knowledge of medical and pharmacy claims data, provider data, and supporting structures.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality management, and data security best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to design and implement efficient processes.
