Meet Slingshot
At Slingshot Aerospace, we're on a mission to make space safer and more secure for everyone. Our work directly impacts global security, disaster response, climate monitoring, and the critical infrastructure that connects our world. We're a team of builders, thinkers, and problem-solvers who believe that the next generation of space operations will be powered by better data and smarter software. We move fast, we're not afraid to fail, and we believe the best ideas can come from anywhere—whether you're in engineering, sales, product, or operations. If you want to work on something that truly matters, with people who care deeply about the impact we're making and help shape the future of an industry that's just getting started, you're in the right place.
What You’ll Be Launching
The Product Designer is a strategic individual contributor responsible for shaping end-to-end user experiences across Slingshot’s portfolio. This role blends product thinking, systems design, and deep user empathy to craft elegant solutions for complex domains like aerospace data, AI decision tools, and 3D operational environments.
Product Designers at Slingshot are expected to lead high-impact initiatives, influence cross-functional strategy, and elevate the quality of both design and product outcomes. We're looking for designers who bring strong UX craft, creative leadership, and a bias toward action—balancing user needs with business and technical constraints.
We're building a team of sharp, creative people who love solving hard problems. We value curiosity over ego, initiative over waiting for permission, and people who genuinely care about doing great work. Bring your expertise, your fresh ideas, and your drive—we'll bring the rocket fuel.
Your Mission (Should you choose to accept it)

End-to-End Design Execution
- Own the full design lifecycle—from discovery and wireframes to detailed interaction specs and production-ready assets.
- Craft innovative experiences that balance usability, technical feasibility, and domain-specific complexity (e.g., spatial, data-rich, or mission-critical environments).
- Lead and contribute to complex feature and system-level design initiatives, ensuring cohesion and scalability across the platform.
Research & Validation
- Conduct and integrate research, testing, and data insights into every phase of the design process.
- Partner with UX researchers, engineers, and domain experts to ground decisions in evidence and real-world behavior.
- Communicate insights through storytelling, frameworks, and documentation that foster empathy and alignment.
Design Systems & Craft
- Contribute to the evolution of Slingshot’s design system, UI patterns, and visual standards across platforms and teams.
- Apply a strong understanding of hierarchy, typography, motion, and layout to create intuitive and expressive interfaces.
- Maintain a high bar for craft, consistency, and accessibility.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Influence
- Collaborate fluidly with engineering, product, program, growth, sales, and marketing teams to align on vision and execution.
- Serve as a thought partner to product managers and technical leads; influence trade-offs and strategic choices.
- Champion a user-centered approach across the company, advocating for design best practices and systemic thinking.
Pre-flight Checklist
- Must be eligible to obtain or maintain US Government Security Clearance, preference given for active TS Clearance.
- 4+ years of professional product design experience, including leadership of complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Track record of delivering high-impact, user-centered solutions in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Bachelor's degree in a design-related field (e.g., HCI, Visual Design, Interaction Design), or equivalent practical experience.
- Must be eligible to obtain or maintain US Government Security Clearance
Bonus Cargo
- Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
- Fluency with design tools (Figma, Lucid Charts, Adobe CC) and prototyping methods across fidelity levels.
- Experience with systems design, modular interfaces, and information-dense products.
- Domain experience in aerospace, geospatial tech, 3D visualization, or real-time decision tools is a plus.
- Strong interaction and visual design skills with a portfolio demonstrating shipped work that balances creativity, usability, and business value.
- Adept at communicating trade-offs, surfacing risks, and influencing cross-functional decisions.
- Ability to create frameworks, playbooks, and tools that elevate design quality across the team.
- Comfortable leading design critiques, mentoring peers, and contributing to design culture and operational excellence.
We're building a constellation here, not looking for identical satellites. Every member of the team brings different capabilities to the same mission. If your orbit intersects with ours and you're mission-ready, send it.
