About Take Command

Take Command is a start-up on a mission to improve the healthcare system, starting with health insurance. Pragmatically speaking, we help employers reimburse employees for individual insurance instead of offering a traditional one-size-fits-all group plan. We believe this model can empower employees (when they have the right support) to be savvy healthcare consumers and have a transformative impact on the entire healthcare system.

Let’s be honest—health insurance is usually a confusing, frustrating, and even emotional experience for people. We want to fix that with a new model, great technology, and a superior user experience. We have made a great start, but we need your help to fully realize our long-term vision.

As an Access to Care Consultant, you will be responsible for assisting employees who are experiencing issues accessing healthcare services. One of your primary duties will be to collaborate with insurance carriers and the marketplace to resolve escalated issues.

To resolve issues with insurance carriers and the marketplace, you should be familiar with application submission, enrollment policies, and enrollment procedures. You should also be able to communicate effectively with representatives from these organizations. This may involve explaining the patient's situation and advocating for their needs.

Overall, we are looking for someone excited to help people access healthcare services they need. By collaborating with insurance carriers and the marketplace, you can help to resolve any issues that arise and provide patients with the support they need to maintain their coverage.

You might be a great fit if you can:

  • Investigate, identify, and problem-solve barriers to care.
  • Effectively comprehend, explain, and document complex enrollment processes and coverage information.
  • Work cross-functionally and remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resolve conflict, empathize with emotionally stressed customers, and communicate clear expectations.
  • Easily navigate between multiple software platforms, all while paying close attention to detail.
  • Work with and understand complex data sets within Excel
  • Cultivate an open mind that is receptive to new ideas and perspectives.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience required (5+ years preferred)
  • Portfolio management experience (2+ years preferred)
  • A proactive and positive personality with organizational skills, great people skills, an extremely friendly attitude, and a desire to problem-solve.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. We’re solving complex problems, and it takes patience and the ability to explain complex ideas in simple, understandable ways to make our clients feel comfortable and confident.
  • A mix of technical and people skills. You’ll be navigating our database and getting familiar with some enrollment procedures and processes.
  • Experience in health insurance and/or issue management
  • Bi-lingual is preferred but not required.
