About Take Command

Take Command is a start-up on a mission to improve the healthcare system, starting with health insurance. Pragmatically speaking, we help employers reimburse employees for individual insurance instead of offering a traditional one-size-fits-all group plan. We believe this model can empower employees (when they have the right support) to be savvy healthcare consumers and have a transformative impact on the entire healthcare system.

Let’s be honest—health insurance is usually a confusing, frustrating, and even emotional experience for people. We want to fix that with a new model, great technology, and a superior user experience. We have made a great start, but we need your help to fully realize our long-term vision.

About the Chief Technology Officer Role

Take Command is seeking an experienced, visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead and scale our technology and product functions. This executive will be responsible for defining and executing our long-term tech and product strategy, building high-performing teams, and delivering scalable, secure, and user-centric solutions that drive business impact. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CTO is a key member of the executive team and will collaborate cross-functionally to fuel innovation, support growth, and ensure world-class execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision and day-to-day leadership for engineering and product teams.
  • Promote a high-performance culture rooted in trust, accountability, transparency, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Build a great team poised for scaling across multiple Scrum teams by hiring top talent and providing strong coaching and mentorship to engineering and product managers.
  • Develop, implement, and evolve a compelling technology vision to help Take Command achieve its mission.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence to help Take Command maintain a competitive edge.
  • Represent Take Command and our technology strategy to clients, at industry events, and in front of the board.
  • Maintain and continually enhance our security posture to keep us and our client information safe.
  • Deliver an excellent technology experience for our clients and our internal teams.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience leading technology and product teams, ideally in high-growth SaaS or platform businesses.
  • Proven success in building and scaling product and engineering organizations through key growth stages (e.g., Series B+).
  • Demonstrated success launching new products in a startup or fast-paced environment.
  • Track record of delivering stakeholder-centric products that drive measurable business value.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, performance scorecards, and modern software development lifecycles.

Compensation: $245,000-$260,000 + 25%

More About Us

We secured our Series B funding in 2023 and are thrilled to be able to expand our team. We’ve been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Dallas Morning News, and other national healthcare publications and are excited about our growth opportunities.

Take Command knows diversity and inclusion among our teammates is integral to our company’s success and growth. Our vision is to recruit, develop, and retain the best team from a diverse candidate pool.

This has mostly been about us, but we’d love to hear from you--we can’t wait to hear your story!
