IT Support Specialist
Take Command Health
About Take Command
Take Command is a start-up on a mission to improve the healthcare system, starting with health insurance. Pragmatically speaking, we help employers reimburse employees for individual insurance instead of offering a traditional one-size-fits-all group plan. We believe this model can empower employees (when they have the right support) to be savvy healthcare consumers and have a transformative impact on the entire healthcare system.
Let’s be honest—health insurance is usually a confusing, frustrating, and even emotional experience for people. We want to fix that with a new model, great technology, and a superior user experience. We have made a great start, but we need your help to fully realize our long-term vision.
About the Role:
We're hiring an IT Support Specialist who will serve as the frontline of technical assistance across the organization. This role provides timely, customer-focused support for hardware, software, network, and account-related issues. The ideal person is a natural problem-solver who communicates clearly, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and genuinely enjoys helping others succeed through technology.
About the Team:
Our IT team keeps the organization running behind the scenes -- from the tools people use every day to the infrastructure that powers our operations. As a Helpdesk Support Specialist, you'll be the bridge between people and technology, working closely with employees across every department to ensure they can do their best work without interruption.
What You’ll Do:
Technical Support
- Provide first level support for incoming helpdesk tickets via phone, email, chat, or in person
- Troubleshoot issues related to Windows/macOS, productivity applications, printers, and mobile devices
- Assist with password resets, account provisioning, and access management
- Diagnose and resolve basic network connectivity problems
- Escalate complex issues with clear documentation
Hardware & Software Management
- Set up, configure, and deploy laptops, desktops, and peripherals
- Install, update, and maintain approved software applications
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure devices meet security standards
Documentation & Process
- Log all support interactions in the ticketing system with accurate details
- Create and update knowledge base articles for common issues
- Follow established IT procedures and contribute to process improvements
Customer Service
- Communicate solutions in a friendly, patient, and easy-to-understand manner
- Provide guidance to nontechnical users and help them feel confident using technology
- Maintain professionalism and empathy during high pressure situations
What You Bring:
- 1–2 years of experience in IT support or a related technical role
- Strong understanding of Windows and/or macOS environments
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, email clients, and common business applications
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, VPN, WiFi)
- Experience with ticketing systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Capable of lifting equipment (typically up to 25 lbs.)
What Success Looks Like:
A great helpdesk team member doesn’t just fix problems -- they keep the organization running smoothly. They’re the bridge between people and technology, ensuring employees can do their best work every day.
