As the Lead Infrastructure Engineer at Zelis, you will be a key player in the IT sectors of healthcare and finance, ensuring the provision of robust and secure infrastructure services.

Your initiatives will be centered on the consolidation of our on-premises data center infrastructure, optimizing resource utilization, and standardizing processes across our data centers. This crucial step towards operational efficiency will support the sensitive and mission-critical operations of our business, maintain compliance with the stringent regulatory standards that govern these industries, and contribute to the modernization of the healthcare financial experience for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Infrastructure Operations team, ensuring alignment with the company’s operational goals.

  • Participate in the design, implementation, and management of on-premises data center operations, including facilities/colocations, compute, hypervisors, storage, and storage fabrics.

  • Collaborate with teams from different Business Units to ensure that infrastructure services are standardized, scalable, smoothly integrated, and operational.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the infrastructure roadmap, focusing on initiatives that enhance security, reliability, and operational excellence.

  • Work with vendors to ensure high-quality services and products.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to data center operations.

  • Participate in the management and oversight of the infrastructure security patching, configuration, and procedures to ensure the protection of data and systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.

  • Monitor and report on the infrastructure security posture, metrics, and incidents, and coordinate timely response and resolution actions through incident management.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and cost efficiency.

  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer focus within the team.

  • Participate in capacity planning, contract management, and budget management to ensure optimal resource allocation and financial planning.

  • Develop and implement automation solutions for data center infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data center infrastructure design, configuration, and processes.

  • Oversee the transformation of assets, deployment/drift, and hardware provisioning.

  • Ensure telemetry logging, including insights, alerts, monitoring, capacity, and finance.

Required Experience:

  • Extensive Engineering experience with VMware, Patching & Storage

  • Infrastructure technical experience in data center operations, including virtualization, compute, storage, storage fabrics, networking.

  • Agile methodology

  • Strategic planning and project management skills.

  • On-call as the escalation point for incidents.

  • Travel to multiple data center locations within the US (approximately 20%-30%)

Preferred Experience:

  • Jira, ITSM

  • Dell Storage

  • ManageEngine Endpoint Central

  • Data center infrastructure management experience, with a focus on on-premises facilities.

  • Ability to work in a team of infrastructure professionals.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Commitment to staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
