Position Overview
Reporting to the SVP of Digital Marketing, the Senior Director of Marketing Data & Technology plays a critical cross-functional role in orchestrating the structured flow of marketing data across platforms to enable accurate lead management, performance measurement and investment analysis. This position is responsible for designing and implementing scalable data structures within marketing tools, ensuring seamless synchronization between systems, and upholding data integrity across the funnel. The role will enable Zelis’ marketing department and its stakeholder groups to have a single view of data and campaign activities to further our ability to optimize investments. The digital marketing strategic roadmap will account for the various web properties, demand marketing infrastructure, marketing automation platforms, CRM, MarTech and other digital infrastructure and tools. The individual will oversee end-to-end digital measurement and reporting, infrastructure management, data management, planning, and processes.This leader will work closely with the Analytics & Insights, RevOps, Marketing Automation and Digital Experience functions as a change agent accelerating the marketing team’s continued digital transformation and data analytics democratization organization-wide.
Responsibilities
Data Integration & Synchronization
Design and oversee the structured integration of marketing data across platforms (e.g., CRM, automation, analytics).
Ensure seamless data flow between tools to support campaign execution, lead tracking, and reporting.
Tool Architecture & Implementation
Define and implement scalable data structures within marketing tools to support evolving business needs.
Lead the setup and configuration of new tools, ensuring alignment with data governance standards.
Drive adoption among internal teams to fully utilize and benefit from the tools available.
Data Quality & Governance
Establish and enforce data accuracy protocols, including validation rules, deduplication, and hygiene processes.
Monitor and resolve data discrepancies across systems to maintain a single source of truth.
Lead Management Optimization
Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to automate and refine lead capture, scoring, routing, and nurturing workflows.
Ensure accurate attribution and tracking of leads through the funnel for performance insights.
Performance Measurement & Reporting
Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting frameworks to measure marketing effectiveness.
Provide actionable insights to stakeholders based on campaign performance and pipeline contribution.
Journey Automation
Select and implement journey automation tools to work in concert with our marketing automation platform.
Manage a team of two marketing automation resources to meet the needs of the segment marketing team and their programs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with IT, sales operations, and analytics teams to align on data strategy and tool interoperability.
Act as a liaison between marketing and technical teams to translate business needs into data solutions.
Compliance & Security
Ensure marketing data practices comply with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Implement access controls and audit mechanisms to safeguard sensitive data.
What You'll Bring
12-15 years of experience with 7+ years of experience managing large-scale data orchestration and analytics initiatives in enterprise environments.
Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional, organization-wide efforts, utilizing influence, shared goals, project planning and impact narratives.
Proven leadership abilities to attract and develop talent while effectively leading a team of direct reports through complicated day-to-day initiatives and executions.
Proven experience designing and managing structured data flows across platforms such as CRM, marketing automation, journey, web, ABM and analytics tools.
Ability to define scalable data structures and lead tool configuration aligned with data governance standards.
Strong command of data hygiene practices, including validation, deduplication, and discrepancy resolution to maintain a single source of truth.
Experience collaborating with sales and marketing to automate and refine lead capture, scoring, routing, and nurturing workflows.
Skilled in building dashboards and reporting frameworks that deliver actionable insights on campaign performance and pipeline contribution.
Adept at translating business needs into technical data solutions and acting as a liaison between marketing and technical teams
Familiarity with AI tools and an understanding of key marketing use cases to drive efficiency and impact
Keys to Success
Background in complex B2B or B2B2C technology sales journeys.
The ability to be hands-on with tool evaluation, integration, implementation and onboarding—someone who can roll up their sleeves and lead by example.
Being a catalyst for data democratization and digital maturity is key. This includes not just building dashboards but enabling teams to interpret and act on insights independently.
Beyond technical skills, the ability to craft compelling, data-driven narratives that influence decision-making is highly valued. This means translating complex data into actionable business stories.
