Position Overview
Zelis is seeking a Director of Business Continuity to lead and enhance its enterprise-wide Business Continuity Management (BCM) program, ensuring organizational resilience and compliance with client and regulatory requirements. This role involves strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and oversight of security and business continuity teams.Lead the development, maintenance, and continual enhancement of Zelis’ enterprise-wide Business Continuity Management (BCM) program. Collaborate across IT, business units, legal, compliance, and client-facing teams to ensure Zelis can respond to and recover from disruptions, meeting both client and regulatory expectations.
What You'll Do:
Program Leadership & Strategy
Establish and evolve the BCM program, integrating best practices (ISO 22301, FFIEC, NIST, Zelis-specific requirements).
Define a 3–5 year BCM maturity roadmap aligned to business strategy, audit findings, and client needs.
Conduct annual program reviews for readiness and compliance.
Help provide strategic direction and daily oversight for security and business continuity teams.
Train, and develop staff; foster a culture of integrity and accountability.
Partner with senior leadership to influence enterprise-level security and resilience decisions.
Business Impact Analysis & Planning
Lead Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) to identify critical processes and recovery priorities.
Develop and maintain business continuity plans (BCPs) at enterprise and business unit levels.
Align BCPs with disaster recovery, crisis management, vendor management, and client SLAs.
Plan and lead regular BC exercises and simulations (tabletop, scenario-based).
Guide resilient, recoverable systems and analyze key BCDR metrics (RTO/RPO).
Governance & Compliance
Define and enforce BCM governance, documentation standards, and lifecycle processes.
Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Audit to ensure regulatory alignment.
Participate in responses to audits, client assessments, and due diligence requests.
Training & Awareness
Develop training and awareness programs for stakeholders.
Support onboarding of new plan owners and coordinators.
Foster a culture of preparedness and ownership.
Reporting & Metrics
Maintain dashboards and metrics for program health, risks, and milestones.
Report to the Crisis & Continuity Steering Committee and executive forums.
Prepare client-facing materials articulating Zelis’ approach to continuity and resilience.
Security & Corporate Security
Oversee the planning for evacuation, fire, active shooter, bomb threats, and other crisis events.
Support event-based security planning and real-time response management across all office locations.
Help develop and execute a comprehensive security strategy to protect personnel, assets, and intellectual property across all locations.
Guide, support and help maintain management of the company's physical security systems with facilities management.
Develop and deliver security awareness training and educational programs to employees and leadership.
Develop and implement an enterprise-wide security Awareness program.
Provide strategic direction and day-to-day oversight for security and business continuity teams, fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.
Partner with senior leadership to influence long-term planning and decision-making on enterprise-level security and resilience matters.
What You'll Bring to Zelis:
6–10 years’ experience in business continuity, risk management, or enterprise resilience.
Strong knowledge of BCM frameworks (ISO 22301, NIST 800-34, FFIEC).
Proven experience in BIA, BCP development, and testing programs.
Exceptional project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong communication and influence across technical and business audiences.
Preferred Skills:
Business continuity or risk certifications (CBCP, MBCP, ISO 22301 Lead Implementer).
Experience in healthcare, fintech, or regulated industries.
Familiarity with continuity planning software or GRC tools.
Knowledge of third-party/vendor risk and client SLA mapping.
Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), or other relevant security/BCDR certifications.
