Position Overview
The Senior Okta Administrator will be responsible for the end‑to‑end administration and optimization of the organization’s Okta Identity Cloud for users across India and global locations, ensuring secure and seamless access to business applications. The role is based out of the Hyderabad office and works closely with local and global IT, security, and application teams.
Key responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain Okta tenants for users in Hyderabad and other regions, including SSO integrations, MFA, and security policies for cloud and on‑premise applications.
- Lead onboarding of new applications used by India and global teams using SAML, OIDC/OAuth, and SCIM, and manage associated sign‑on and provisioning workflows.
- Manage user lifecycle in Okta in coordination with HR and IT teams in Hyderabad: automated provisioning/de‑provisioning, group/role management, and access assignments.
- Implement and enforce MFA, password policies, and conditional access controls aligned with the organization’s security and compliance standards.
- Monitor Okta logs and dashboards and work with the security operations team (India and global) to investigate authentication issues and security alerts.
- Integrate Okta with Active Directory/Azure AD, HRIS, ITSM, and security tools in the organization’s India and global environment.
- Prepare and maintain documentation, SOPs, and runbooks; mentor junior team members in Hyderabad on Okta and IAM best practices.
- Participate in change management, upgrades, and rollout of new Okta features; provide L2/L3 support for user access issues raised through the local helpdesk.
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of hands‑on Okta administration experience in an enterprise environment, preferably supporting India‑based and global users.
- Strong knowledge of IAM concepts (SSO, federation, MFA, RBAC, user lifecycle management) and experience with SAML 2.0, OIDC/OAuth 2.0, and SCIM integrations.
- Experience integrating Okta with Active Directory and/or Azure AD and managing identity synchronization.
- Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Python, or REST APIs) for bulk operations, reporting, and workflow automation.
- Ability to work in a distributed team environment, with strong communication skills suitable for collaborating with stakeholders in Hyderabad and other regions.
Preferred qualifications
- Okta Certified Administrator and/or Okta Certified Professional.
- Experience in a large IT/ITES, SaaS, BFSI, or product development organization in India.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools, and SIEM platforms used in enterprise environments.
