Position Overview
The Implementation Project Manager leads and manages complex, technology-driven implementations that support Zelis’ products, platforms, and client delivery initiatives. This role is responsible for delivering large-scale, data-intensive projects involving system integrations, client-specific configurations, and cross-functional coordination across internal and external teams.This individual is accountable for end-to-end execution, scope, schedule, quality, and delivery outcomes, while also bringing strong technical and data fluency to effectively lead projects involving integrations, data transformation, and platform configuration.
What You’ll Do
Lead moderately to highly complex implementation projects involving multiple systems, integrations, teams, clients, and vendors.
Define project scope, objectives, success criteria, and measurable outcomes; translate business and technical requirements into executable project plans.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including clients, internal teams, and external IT partners/vendors.
Manage cross-functional teams and coordinate dependencies across Implementation, IT, Product, QA, Payment Operations, Client Delivery, and vendor organizations.
Build and manage end-to-end project plans, including schedules, milestone tracking, and executive-level reporting.
Oversee implementation activities involving data integrations, file exchanges, and system configurations, ensuring alignment across technical and business teams.
Partner with client IT teams to understand system architecture, data flows, and integration points, and incorporate this understanding into project planning and risk management.
Ensure alignment and readiness for data mapping, transformation, validation, and testing activities across systems.
Manage scope and change control processes, including assessing impacts to timeline, cost, and resources while maintaining alignment to business objectives.
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including milestone delays, data quality issues, integration dependencies, and technical constraints; develop contingency plans to ensure successful delivery.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and timely escalation of risks, issues, and decisions.
Ensure high-quality deliverables and successful transition of projects to production support and operations teams.
Drive collaboration, accountability, and transparency across teams to ensure alignment and delivery success.

What you'll bring to Zelis:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
5+ years of project management experience, with a strong focus on technology implementations, client onboarding, and system integrations.
Proven experience delivering projects across Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies; able to adapt approach based on project complexity and stakeholder needs.
Demonstrated success managing large, complex, data-driven implementations in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Working knowledge of data integration concepts, including APIs, SFTP, batch processing, and file-based exchanges (e.g., XML, flat files).
Experience working with data mapping, transformation, and validation processes, and understanding how data flows across systems.
Experience working with vendors, consultants, and third-party technology providers to deliver integrated solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
Proficiency in using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or similar platforms to support project delivery and cross-team collaboration.
Proficiency in using AI tools to enhance project delivery (e.g., planning, documentation, reporting, and analysis).
What makes you stand out:
Experience working in healthcare, insurance, or financial services
Familiarity with healthcare data formats and standards (e.g., X12 837/835).
Experience overseeing or supporting data mapping documentation and integration specifications.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), and enterprise system integrations.
Basic knowledge of SQL or data querying to support validation and troubleshooting.
Preferred Certifications
PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification preferred.
Agile certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Master, SAFe) are a plus.
