Position Overview
We are looking for a talented and experienced SOX Analyst to support and enhance our IT SOX Compliance Program, ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and the security of Zelis data and systems.The SOX Analyst is a member of the Cybersecurity team and is responsible for evaluating, testing, and maintaining IT General Controls (ITGCs), application controls, and supporting compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. This role will partner closely with Internal Audit, external auditors, and control owners to ensure adherence to Zelis policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The selected candidate must have experience with IT control frameworks and a strong understanding of risk and compliance concepts.
Key responsibilities:
· Execute and support the SOX IT compliance program, including risk assessments, control design evaluations, and control testing for IT General Controls (ITGCs), IT Application Controls (ITACs), and key reports
· Review system access, change management, and operational controls to ensure proper design and operating effectiveness; document findings and track remediation efforts
· Partner with control owners to ensure controls are properly documented, implemented, and operating effectively in accordance with SOX requirements
· Collaborate with Internal Audit and external auditors to support walkthroughs, evidence requests, and audit inquiries
· Identify control gaps and provide recommendations for remediation strategies; track corrective actions through completion
· Support the enhancement and automation of SOX processes, tools, and reporting capabilities
· Maintain documentation including narratives, risk and control matrices (RCMs), and process flows
· Assist in aligning SOX controls with broader risk management and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO)
· Support education and awareness initiatives related to SOX compliance and internal controls across the organization
· Corporate Compliance Responsibility – As an essential function, responsible for complying with Zelis’ Corporate Compliance Program, Standards of Business Conduct, applicable contracts, laws, rules and regulations, policies, and procedures as it applies to individual job duties, the department and the Company. This position must exercise due diligence to prevent, detect, and report unlawful and/or unethical conduct
professional experience:
Required:
· Five (5)+ years’ experience in SOX compliance, IT audit, cybersecurity, and/or risk management
· Experience performing IT SOX control testing (ITGCs, ITACs, key reports)
· Experience evaluating and enforcing adherence to internal controls and remediation efforts
· Experience working with control frameworks and regulatory requirements related to SOX
· Experience with user access reviews, change management controls, and system operations controls
· Ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
· Excellent research and analytical skills
· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Preferred:
· Experience with GRC tools such as OneTrust
· Healthcare industry experience
· CISA or equivalent certification
· Public accounting or consulting experience
education:
Bachelor’s degree (or) related degree and experience
work environment:
· Travel requirements should not exceed 5%.
· A standard work week exists but with the understanding that additional time/effort outside of the usual parameters can/will occur based upon the overall needs of the organization, where deadlines exist and when necessary due to the needs of the Security team.
· A standard business environment exists with moderate noise levels.
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
